Professional Bio

As a child and well into my young adult years I wanted to be a journalist. I wanted to have a career and three children. I wanted to travel the world and interview interesting people. I wanted to learn about the world and all the people in it. The births of my children changed me to my core.

My first son was born in a hospital. I was determined to have a natural birth. I took Lamaze and practiced my breathing. I was told I was having a big baby and that if I didn’t learn to relax I wouldn’t get the natural birth I wanted. I was told to keep my options open and I was told I would be induced a week early. I believed for years that the OB saved my baby. (who was blue when he was born) I breastfed him until he was 4 months old.

My second son was born at home in my bed early in the morning. I was determined to have a natural birth. I took Bradley and practiced my breathing and my relaxation and my exercises. I visualized. I was told I could do it.

I was told I was only 1cm when the midwife arrived and she told me, since she was there, “We are going to have a baby tonight.”

I allowed my midwife to stretch my cervix and break my water and I was only in active labor for 45 minutes. I breastfed him until he was 2 years old. Read his birth story here

My third son was born at home in my bed in the late afternoon/early evening. I was determined to have a natural birth. I reviewed my Bradley information. I studied and researched. There was internet now! I visualized. I practiced my breathing and my relaxation and my exercises and giggled with joy when my cervix stretching midwife told me she was going out of town. I was told my dates and I knew they were wrong. I knew I could do it. I considered going unassisted. I had mild contractions all night. I woke up and called my midwife and two doulas. My labor stopped for 2 hours at 6cm. Active labor lasted 4-6 hours. It was peaceful and relaxing. I laughed between contractions. I breastfed him until he was 3.

These are the stories that changed me. They made me who I am today. I am a doula and educator. I guide families to empower themselves, and I teach others how to get the birth they want.

Birthing and raising children changes us. It makes us stronger. It empowers us and it helps us become the people we were meant to be. I want to be a part of that journey with you. I want to help you to have the most beautiful, empowering birth you can possibly have.

I live in Rural Colorado with my husband, children, and animals. I have plans to own property and create a communal living space for families and friends dedicated to nature and building a sustainable life.
